As if Montrealers needed any more indication that spring has sprung, Tam-Tams first official Sunday of 2019 kicks off next month.

Tams, the weekly outdoor party at the base of the mountain, is a perfect summary of Montreal, open to both locals and tourists.

Taking place every Sunday during the summer months, Tam-Tams is one of the city’s best and most popular unofficial events. Plus, it’s always free admission.

The magical outdoor bash is where Montrealers from far and wide, gather in Parc Mont Royal for an afternoon of food, vendors, fun, music, and maybe even a couple beers and some smoking (shhh, don’t tell anyone).

Though the drum circle is located at the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Monument, vendors and entertainment are spread throughout the park, all the way from Avenue Mont-Royal to Duluth.

Not that it ever stopped anyone before, this upcoming Tams will be the first season since cannabis has been legalized.

If you thought the smoke cloud above the Cartier statue was hefty before… just wait until this year’s bash.

The weekly party features an array of activities to the tune of beating drums: LARPing (live-action role-playing), frisbee, dancing, tight-rope walkers, touch football, soccer, barbecuing, art, and the very popular: laying in the grass.
