The 15 best places to get takeout food in NDG

Feb 11 2021, 10:15 am

During what is arguably the most important time in the history of takeout food, NDG is bustling with tasty options to consider.

From burgers to shwarmas, pizza, a few longstanding Montreal classics, and everything in between, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (but who actually calls it that?) has no shortage of tasty takeout choices.

NDG’s social hub is Monkland Village, a neighbourhood within a neighbourhood, kind of like Inception. Monkland is glistening with phenomenal restaurants, renowned bars and some of the tastiest coffee shops in Montreal.

Until things start to normalize, these takeout options should help tide you over for your NDG itch, all over the city.

Boustan makes a mean Lebanese shawarma. It’s grilled pita loaded with pork, beef, or chicken and garnished with beets, lettuce, eggplant, potatoes (yes potatoes), peppers, and tomatoes, and then doused in a sauce of your choice.

As delicious as their shawarma and pitas are, their garlic potatoes shouldn’t be forgotten.

Boustan is active on all food-delivery apps and is open late, every day.

You can’t mention NDG and takeout without considering this classic Montreal spot. There are no frills here: Chalet BBQ has been dishing out wood-fired, slow-cooked chicken every day since 1944.

Grab yourself a half-chicken, some decadent coleslaw, and a poutine — you can’t go wrong.

Pendelis Pizza

You also can’t mention takeout food without thinking of pizza. If you’re in the mood for a classic pie, Pendelis Pizza makes an outstanding all-dressed pizza.

They stick to the classics too — no Uber Eats, DoorDash, or delivery apps, just a good old-fashioned phone call.

Olivia’s Authentic Chicken is a must-consider spot if you’re in the mood for some fried chicken.

They also have a bevy of amazing salads if you want to veer towards something a bit healthier.

Tao Restaurant

Tao Restaurant

Arguably one of the best general tao chicken plates in Montreal, Tao uses fresh ingredients and offers a delicious menu of tasty Asian cuisine, with no MSG or additives.

The restaurant reopened in January after a lengthy shutdown due to the pandemic, and their takeout is just as tasty as their dine-in.

Le Cheese Casse Croute + Truck

Le Cheese has switched from a cozy casse-croute to a full-time delivery spot. If you’re hungry for a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, a wrap, poutine, or surprisingly good soups, give some serious consideration to Le Cheese.

If you’re looking for some salads, Rockaberry has a nice mix of healthy eats but some absolutely decadent dessert dishes. Because offsetting your diet is important.

Gyro Boutique is a family-themed restaurant that specializes in quick service and authentic Greek cuisine.

You can’t go wrong with the pork, beef, or chicken pitas.

Le Petit Tokebi

Le Petit Tokebi is a Korean restaurant that features tabletop hibachi.

They’ve done a great job at transferring tabletop dishes to takeout food. It’s just as tasty and very well priced.

If you’re on the hunt for pasta, Amerigo is a cozy little Italian bistro that can rival any pasta spot in the city.

We’d recommend the cavatelli barese and their gnocchi. And while you’re at it, add some homemade cookies to cap off the order.
