STM renames each metro station with a holiday twist

Nov 30 2020, 7:10 pm

The STM (Société de transport de Montréal) has gotten into the spirit of giving. Specifically, giving each metro station a new holiday-inspired name.

The metro renaming is part of the STM’s ‘ugly Christmas sweater‘ contest, where 15 lucky winners will be rewarded with a sweater consisting of all of the network’s holiday-based names.

Participants are asked to film and recreate their daily bus or metro routine and tag the STM Instagram account for a chance at the ugly sweater prize.

The contest also tested out the network’s creativity in taking all 68 of the metro’s names and giving them a holiday pun. From Édouard-Montpetit Papa Noel, Let it Snowdon, CĂ´te-Ver-tuque, and Merry-UQAM — the STM obviously had a bit of fun.

We’ve enlarged the holiday metro map so you can really dive in and pick out a favourite.

Ugly STM sweater hopefuls can head over to the network’s website for more contest information because nothing beats an ugly Christmas sweater like a localized one.
