Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for the Montreal area as heavy snow flurries are expected to fall tonight.
The weather warning is in effect for:
- Châteauguay – La Prairie area
- Laval area
- Longueuil – Varennes area
- Montréal Island area
“A vigorous cold front will sweep across southern and central Quebec tonight. Behind the front, strong westerlies will cause a drastic drop in temperatures. Friday morning, cold will be will be harsh as the mercury falls well below normal values,” said Environment Canada in a statement.
“As the front passes, showers will change into flurries at times heavy giving up to 5 centimetres locally. Near zero visibilities are also expected in blowing snow and heavy snow in some areas.”
Thursday evening temperatures in Montreal will drop to -9°C and Friday’s daytime temperatures will reach -7°C.
