Quebec woman shares devastating moments kayaking through her flooded home (VIDEO)

It’s been a heartbreaking week for residents of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-lac who had been forced to evacuate their homes at the hands of Quebec’s devastating floods.

As water levels began to stabilize, citizens in the suburb, located 45 km from Montreal, were able to return home after close to 5,000 Sainte-Marthe residents were evacuated throughout the weekend.

One resident, Valérie Deslauriers, posted a moving video to Facebook showing her devastate reaction upon seeing her flood-ravaged house for the first time.

Deslauriers breaks down crying in the video as she films the first floor of her house, submerged in water while her belongings float next to her.

Since being posted on Sunday, the video has received over 700,000 views.

Using the caption “Goodbye home… goodbye street…” Deslauriers posted an accompanying video of the flooded streets of Saint-Marthe-sur-le-Lac as she kayaked through it with her husband, along with more photos of her destroyed home.
