The Quebec government revealed that the province’s COVID-19-related death toll has reached 2,928 after announcing another 142 deaths on Sunday.

Quebec also announced 735 new cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of known cases in the province to 37,721.

Of those cases, 1,831 people are currently in hospital, with 199 of them in intensive care.

A total of 9,526 people are now considered fully recovered.

While Quebec Premier Francois Legault said recently that younger people are at a “lesser risk,” he noted there is no such thing as zero percent risk. “Maybe it’s close to zero in citizens below 30 but you still have to be prudent and respect the guidelines.”

“It’s not an exact sign but public health says a ‘controlled risk’ is for people who are younger than 70 years old,” he continued. The premier added that people with existing health problems, regardless of age (chronic diseases), should not go back to work.
