Quebec’s public security ministry will be testing out the province’s emergency warning alert messaging system tomorrow.
According to a press release from Québec En Alerte, an alert message will audibly be heard on all televisions, radio broadcasts, and wireless devices connected to an LTE network on Wednesday, November 25 at 1:55 pm ET.
The message will confirm the transmission is a test and will notify citizens “this is not a real situation and that there is no danger to the health or safety of citizens.”

Québec En Alerte says it is not possible to unsubscribe from the “essential service.” Not all citizens will receive the test on their wireless phones, only those that are compatible and connected to an LTE network at the time the alert is initiated.
Since April 2018, when the alerts began to be broadcast on cell phones as well, over 100 emergency alerts have been successfully transmitted across the country, primarily aimed to save lives.
The alert will be posted in both English and French in order to effectively reach the largest number of Quebecers.
