Longueuil police are seeking the public’s help to identify a suspected thief who was caught on video breaking and entering into a South Shore home.

According to the SPAL, on September 28, the suspect broke into a St-Lamber home by smashing the patio door. The thief reportedly stole jewelry and a laptop before fleeing the scene.

The man is described as being about 55-years-old, wears glasses, and has a moustache.

Longueuil police shared the following in-house surveillance footage on YouTube:

Citizens with information concerning the alleged break in are urged to anonymously reach out to Info-Azimut by calling 450-646-8500.

The SPAL also offered tips to avoid break-ins, especially nearing the upcoming holiday season:

  • Ask trusted neighbours to pay attention to any suspicious behaviour while you’re out of the house
  • Don’t leave your home completely dark
  • Pick up your mail
  • Lock the doors
  • Avoid leaving objects around your house that can help make access to windows easier
