As if Montrealers needed any more indication that spring is about to be sprung, the Tam-Tams chatter is beginning to drum.
Tams, the weekly outdoor party at the base of a mountain, is one of Montreal’s most defining events.
Popular with both locals and tourists, Tam- Tams will take place every Sunday (rain or shine) starting on May 3 and running until September 27.

Though the drum circle is located at the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Monument, vendors and entertainment are spread throughout the park, all the way from Avenue Mont-Royal to Duluth.
The weekly party features an array of activities to the tune of beating drums: LARPing (live-action role-playing), frisbee, dancing, tight-rope walkers, touch football, soccer, barbecuing, art, and the very popular, laying in the grass.

Though the first Sunday of May is slated to kick off the first official Tams party, a large gathering of 4/20 fans usually assemble at the Sir George-Etienne Cartier Monument on April 20 to party and smoke weed in what has become Montrealâs worst kept secret.
