Montreal is getting ready to host Matsuri Japon’s 18th annual Japanese Street Festival.
The festival will reflect the Japanese community and culture here in Montreal.

According to Matsuri Japon’s Facebook page, the festival will feature Japanese food, activities, desserts, drinks, drum and dance shows, kimono rentals, language workshops, and martial arts demonstrations.
Matsuri Japon highlighted some of the traditional Japanese food that will highlight the street festival: Takoyaki (octopus stuffed pancake balls), Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake), Yakiniku (grilled beef), Yakisoba (sauteed noodles), Udon (cold noodles), Ikayaki (grilled squid), Yakitori (grilled meat skewers), J-dogs (Japanese hot dogs), and Onigiri (rice balls).
Trained supervisors will offer guests a martial arts demonstrations and a professional karate competition will also take place.
As if learning karate won’t be appealing enough, the festival also offers lessons in the Japanese art of Kyudo, Japanese archery.
The festival will boast an array of Japanese desserts that includes Japanese shaved ice dessert, Kakigori, as well as popular drinks, Ramuné, Calpico, Calpis Soda, Yuzu lemonade, and of course, Sapporo beer.
Though activity and food prices vary, the Matsuri Japon Street Festival is free to enter.
