The city is currently in transition between two major festivals as Jazz Fest is subbing out for Just for Laughs. But, as always, there’s still a lot of fun stuff to tackle in Montreal today, July 10.

Beck at Place Bell

The 48-year-old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is in Laval tonight promoting his new album Colors. Go get a fresh Devil’s Haircut and check him out. Where It’s At? He’s at Place Bell. Don’t be a Loser, go see him.

Honey Martin Trivia

Honey Martin is a cozy Irish Pub in NDG that hosts arguably the best pub trivia in town. They do six rounds of ten questions. A winner is rewarded each round with either a round of drinks or a round of shots. A round for a round – solid deal. The questions are all general knowledge and the trivia host is interactive and funny. Buy him a shot and he’ll go easy on you.

The Shaika Shakeup

Cafe Shaika hosts the Shaika Shakeup evert Tuesday in the summer. The Shakeup is an open mic comedy show that features up and coming comedians and seasoned vets working on new bits or old jokes. It’s a comfortable cafe in a busy neighbourhood, minutes away from Vendome metro and easily accessible by bike/bus.

Plus they have carrot cake.

Montreal Symphony Orchestra at Jarry Park

The Montreal Symphony Orchestra will be playing excerpts from a variety of romantic arias from Carmen, Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde and many more. Plus, it’s free.

Organizers ask guests to bring their own chairs.

LA RUE COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE is a circus festival that includes tightrope walkers, trapeze art, balancing and trampoline acts, fire art, jugglers, gymnastics, live music, and human pyramids, all using the urban landscape of Montreal as their stages.

They’ll be set up at the trendy Jardins Gamelin tonight.
