The City of Montreal wants you to see more of this gorgeous province this winter by checking out the city’s biggest national park – for free.

So, pack a lunch, hop on a shuttle bus and spend the day in the great Canadian outdoors!

Parc-Nature du Cap-Saint-Jacques is offering two free shuttle services from downtown Montreal today.

With 330 hectares of land, the Parc-Nature du Cap-Saint-Jacques is the largest park in Montreal. It’s bordered by Lac des Deux Montagnes and the Rivière des Prairies, offering magnificent views of icy, snowy, land.

The park is a massive network of cross-country ski trails that offer river, field and forest landscapes.

Montreal Insect Fair

The Montreal Insect Fair is an event centered on insects and everything creepy and crawly. The fair’s goal is to promote the scientific culutre of entomology, towards the general public and the youth.

The fair offers a large variety of insects from across the glove, over 150,000 insects on exhibition, some of which are for sale, educational presentations on the science of entomology and even insect tasting.

Domaine Enchanteur – Domaine de la forêt perdue



There’s no better way to stick it to winter and stand up to your Canadian pride like skating.

But hitting the ice on an enchanted forest trail adds a little bit of magic to the longstanding winter hobby.

Domaine Enchanteur, in the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel district, a two-hour drive from the island of Montreal, offers guests 15 km of perfectly maintained ice that winds its way through the pine forest’s wintery landscape.

Castle in the Sky Screening


CinĂ©ma du Parc will be screening three shows of Hayao Miyazaki’s 1986 classic Castle in the Sky this weekend.

The animated film follow a young boy and girl who stumble into a mysterious islands that floats down from the sky.

The cinema will screen an English and Japanese version on Saturday and the French version on Sunday.

POP Yoga Neige

Downward dog-sled, anyone?

Montreal-based fitness company POP Spirit is hosting a series of outdoor snow yoga sessions this month.

Aptly titled POP Yoga Neige, classes will take place every Saturday and Sunday from now until March 24 at Parc La Fontaine and Parcours Gouin, respectively.

All classes are free to the public and boast top-notch, professional instructors. All you have to do is bring your own mat and dress warmly (and we mean, really warm).

Pente Ă  Neige

No offence, Mont Tremblant, but we might hit the slopes a bit closer to home this weekend as La Pente Ă  Neige has constructed a man-made ski hill at Parc Ignace-Bourget.

If you’re up to braving the cold, the second edition of the urban hill is big enough for up to 250 people and there’s also a mini slope on site to accommodate up to 50 mini-skiers.

The hill welcomes skiers, snowboarders, tubers and sledders of any age and features a cozily heated yurt, mulled wine, hot chocolate and music.

Guests can bring their own equipment or it can be rented on site.

Roller Disco and Dance Night


Have you ever seen how funky those roller discos of decades past looked? This Saturday, you can be part of it as Centre Bruxelles is hosting a roller disco and dance night.

Winter Games NDG
