After years of renovations, Montrealers can finally pop a seat in downtown’s newly revamped Dorchester Square.

Visitors can now enjoy the park’s new Victorian-style fountain and two footbridges.

Dorchester Square, conveniently located next to Montreal’s main tourism office, dates back to the early 19th century.

Just in time for the herds of foot-traffic for Grand Prix weekend, the $15 million renovations were inaugurated on Thursday by Major Valérie Plante and lead architect Claude Cormier.

Cormier attributes the new feature’s designs to inspirations from Venice, Italy.

The newly revamped square features two arced footbridges made of wood and metal, allowing pedestrians to walk over the ramps that lead to underground parking.

Located between both bridges is an 11-metre-tall cast iron Victorian-style fountain.

Renovations in the park began in 2016 and were slated to be unveiled in 2018. Delays caused the park’s facelift to be delayed to this past weekend, where Instagrammers shared the park’s new look.
