Justin Trudeau to march in Montreal Pride Parade

Aug 19 2018, 8:31 am

On Sunday afternoon, thousands of people will flood the streets of The Village in Montreal to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. And, it’s been confirmed that Justin Trudeau will be one of those people.

Trudeau will deliver brief remarks at the Sheraton Le Centre Hotel at 12:15 pm before marching in the massive parade.

The Pride Parade is an LGBTQ tradition that has been going on since 1979, it’s a show of the community’s solidarity, strength, and demand for the same respect, dignity, and basic rights as those granted to heterosexuals.

As the streets from Rue Metcalfe to Alexandre-DeSève on Boulevard René-Lévesque will be closed off to motorists, Trudeau will join the parade from Rue Stanley onwards.

The PM took part in the Vancouver Pride Parade earlier this month and became the first sitting Prime Minister to do so in 2016.

Colours, costumes, dancing, pride, and Justin Trudeau. Cue the massive 2.7 km party, which starts at 1 pm on Sunday.
