Justin Trudeau has been named one of the world’s most influential people.

The praise comes from TIME magazine’s fifteenth annual ‘Most Influential People in the Word’ list.

Toronto-born singer Shawn Mendes also made the list.

As defined by TIME’S editor in chief, Edward Felsenthal, “TIME’s annual list of the world’s most influential people is a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now.”

At just 46, Trudeau is Canada’s youngest Prime Minister and is in good company on the prestigious list which includes a wide range of international leaders, artists, scientists, activists, and athletes.

Trudeau was included on the list in TIME’s Leaders category alongside the likes of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and US president Donald Trump.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern penned a glowing piece on Trudeau for TIME, saying:

“There will be a few names globally that will become etched in our history books. They will be the names that mark the shift in our political landscape, when younger politicians took the reins and heralded a different type of politics. Justin Trudeau will be one of them. Youth alone is not remarkable, but winning over people with a message of hope and warmth, tolerance and inclusion, when other politicians the world over choose an easier route—that is remarkable.”

This year, the magazine’s list has record numbers for the number of women and the number of people under the age of 40 included, featuring 45 women, from actresses to activists and 45 people under 40 years-old.

TIME released six different covers, four of which feature women. 2018’s cover stars include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, civil rights activist Tarana Burke, tennis pro Roger Federer, actress Tiffany Haddish, actress Nicole Kidman, and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez.
