Canadians invite Jimmy Kimmel after show pulled over Charlie Kirk comments

Following a controversial decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live indefinitely, Canadians are calling on the late-night host to bring his talents to Canada.
If you missed it, Disney’s ABC is pulling Kimmel’s talk show off the air due to what CNN calls “public pressure from FCC Chair Brendan Carr and ABC affiliates.”
CNN adds that the reasoning behind the decision was comments that Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk’s killer.
In the aftermath, many Canadians have flocked to social media, calling on Kimmel to come to Canada. Whether that would ever happen is another story altogether, but many Canadians have posted in support of Kimmel.

One X user suggested that Kimmel and other late-night show hosts should start a comedy network in Canada.
Yes! Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, John Oliver rock! They should start a comedy network in Canada, making Trump and family the butt of jokes! Except Mary Trump, she’s cool! Their ratings would fly high!

Jimmy Kimmel should come and host a show here in Canada.

Jody Vance, a well-known media personality based in Vancouver, also suggested a similar approach, leading to a flurry of conversation in response.
We will happily take him! We will also show him the respect he deserves.

Some are also inviting Stephen Colbert to Canada, as it was announced in July that The Late Show would cease to exist in 2026.

Colbert had a whole Facebook thread dedicated to him after the announcement that his show would soon come to an end on the Friends of the CBC group. That post received thousands of likes, hundreds of comments, and shares.
At the time of publication, neither Kimmel nor Jimmy Kimmel Live! have publicly responded to the show being taken off the air.
