Environment Canada has released another update on its winter storm warning for Montreal. According to the weather agency, the storm and strong winds will extend until Monday.

“On Sunday a low-pressure system from the American Midwest will bring a wintry mix of precipitation and strong winds over a number of regions in Quebec. Snow changing to freezing rain is a probable scenario for the Greater Montreal, Outaouais and Estrie regions. Regions further north will receive significant snowfall amounts,” said Environment Canada, in a statement.

“The storm will continue on Monday, with heavy snow, freezing rain and strong winds spreading northward and eastward across the province.”

The special weather statement is in effect for:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

“Everyone should be prepared for winter storm conditions. Travel conditions could become difficult Sunday and Monday due to snow or freezing rain accumulations,” said Environment Canada.
