As if things weren’t gloomy enough already, Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Montreal and its surrounding areas.

The weather agency is predicting 25 to 40 mm of rainfall by Friday evening and states that the rain could become “heavy at times.”

Environment Canada issued rainfall warnings when “significant” downpour is expected.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” says the alert.

The warning, issued just after 11:15 am on Thursday, is in effect for the following areas:

  • ChĂąteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montreal Island area

On the bright side (literally), The Weather Agency is forecasting much more seasonal weekend weather with 18ÂșC and 16ÂșC slated to hit Montreal on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
