Having a hard time finding an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine appointment?

You are not alone.

With thousands of pharmacies and clinics across the country offering vaccines but no centralized communication system to navigate appointments, it can be incredibly difficult to pinpoint what locations have vaccines, and if there are open spots to get a shot.

Well, a new tool intended to supplement vaccination initiatives is helping connect eligible Canadians to vaccines.

Vaccine Hunters Canada lists available appointments at clinics and pharmacies by city and province on its rapidly-growing Twitter page and on its Discord platform in a bid to get more people vaccinated, faster.

It has more than 129,000 Twitter followers and is growing by the day.

Canada’s top doctor, Chief Medical Health Officer Theresa Tam, started Wednesday’s press conference by praising the people behind the initiative, saying the community group is making it easy for Canadians to navigate the booking process by aggregating the data on social media.

“They are helping eligible Canadians,” she told reporters.

The Toronto-based tool was born out of the confusion people have had trying to find pharmacies in their area that have available vaccines and appointments.

It covers all provinces and territories and people can sign up to be notified whenever it tweets new information.

Run by volunteers, Vaccine Hunters uses its social media to broadcast which pharmacy locations have doses and appointment spaces available.

Its goal is to get vaccine availability out in a clear and concise manner with a goal of getting more Canadians their COVID-19 vaccine, while cutting down on vaccine waste.

Follow Vaccine Hunters Canada on Twitter for the latest appointment spots as they become available in your city and province.
