Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien has been admitted to hospital with chest pains.

Kirk Mueller will step in as interim head coach in Julien’s absence, according to the team.

General manager Marc Bergevin made the announcement at Thursday’s media availability. Bergevin said Julien began feeling chest pains after Game 1. The Habs GM said the pain is not COVID-19-related.

If Julien is cleared to return to the NHL bubble, he would need to quarantine before rejoining the team because he was present inside a hospital.
