Here's when the city will pick up your old Christmas tree throughout Montreal

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, get out of my house, O Christmas tree.

After weeks of lighting up holiday charm, the post-holiday dust begins to settle and it’s time to bid farewell to this year’s tree.

The City of Montreal has set up specific times, varying per borough, to collect old trees. The old trees will be “converted into wood chips” in an eco-friendly matter. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to help you out with the hundreds of little pine needles scattered across your floor.

There are a few rules when it comes to dumping your old tree: Trees can’t be in bags, must be undecorated, can’t be blocking the sidewalk, and should be placed with the tree’s base facing the street. City workers will not be picking up artificial trees.

Here’s when city workers will pick up your old tree, by borough. The city asks you to place your tree on the curbside after 7 pm the day before collection or before 7 am on collection day.
