After revealing the nature of his injury, the Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday night that defenceman David Savard could be out for multiple months.

Savard was likely hurt after blocking shots in his own zone in the third period of Monday nightâs win against the Buffalo Sabres. Up 3-1 in the final frame, Savard got in front of a puck that knocked the blade off one of his skates.
He headed to the dressing room after the long shift and did not return.
Over five games this year, the Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, native logged two assists while averaging 20:22 of ice time a night.
With him out of the lineup, the Canadiens called up defenceman Gustav Lindstrom on an emergency basis from the Laval Rocket, Montrealâs AHL affiliate, on Tuesday morning.
Along with Savard, the Canadiens are dealing with a handful of other substantial injuries. Fellow defenceman Kaiden Guhle is day-to-day, nursing an upper-body injury he sustained in last week’s game against the Minnesota Wild.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that forward Kirby Dach will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.
