Next month will be a good time to channel your inner lumberjack because a maple syrup festival is on its way to Montreal.
Officially called Cabane Panache, all the sugary goodness of a Quebec cabane à sucre will be coming to Promenade Wellington between March 19 to 22.
The tenth annual urban cabane à sucre will feature four days of square dancing, woodcutting, festive dancing, tasty treats, and oodles of maple syrup.

“La Cabane Panache et Bois Rond is the guiding beacon for celebrating sugaring time like nowhere else,” reads the event’s website. “Over 100,000 hungry lumberjacks are expected at the biggest and free-est maple festival in Quebec to enjoy a first big breath of springtime air.”

The traditional event will feature square dancing, log-throwing, two-man saws, six francophone concerts, and of course a maple syrup feast.
This year’s sappy fest includes the musical likes of Bernard Adamus, Verdana, Urban Science Brass Band, Les Filles du Roy, Wabo BBQ, Caribou, and Cayouche, to name a few.
Sugary treats and meals include maple taffy, sugar pies, pancakes with syrup (obviously), snow taffy, candied bacon, maple-smoked pogos, Irish stew, waffles, croissants, and of course, maple-based cocktails.

There will also be a general store on site to make sure you have enough maple syrup to last you through the springtime.
