Book and Bed Tokyo prides itself on catering to the needs of out-of-town and overseas visitors.

Created in association with designers at Suppose Design Office, the hostel features books provided by Shibuya Publishing & Booksellers.

“‘Book and Bed Tokyo’ is a hybrid bookstore hostel that provides overnight and daytime accommodations for book lovers,” according to the official press release. “You can enjoy
reading a book in the comforts of your own bed in a relaxed atmosphere while in the heart of Tokyo.”

Guests can choose to either book a bookshelf bed or standard bunk.

Even if you are not staying overnight, the hostel invites anyone to come to visit and take part in their day time service.

A standard bookshelf bed is 4,500 Yen (~ $54.75 CAD) and is 129cm × 205cm (roughly 4 x 7 feet).

The prices increase to 5,500 Yen ($66.90 CAD) on weekends and days before holidays.

If you are seeking a restful, comfortable sleep, the hostel’s website holds no punches in explaining that, “the perfect setting for a good night’s sleep is something you will not find here. There are no comfortable mattresses, fluffy pillows nor lightweight and warm down duvets.”

However, what they do offer is the ultimate blissful experience of drifting off with a good book, “with heavy drooping eyelids you continue reading only to realize you have fallen asleep.”
