Disney announces new Star Wars hotel to open in 2021

Stars Wars fans will now have a place to stay when visiting a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will begin transporting guests from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida starting in 2021, Walt Disney Imagineering announced Tuesday night.

An all-immersive, two-night adventure, it’s an experience that could only come from Disney.

“You’ll become the hero of your own adventure in an experience that surrounds you 24/7 in Star Wars storytelling,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.

Guests’ journey will begin at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal, where they will be led into a launch pod and transported to the Halcyon, the Starcruiser.

The pod’s viewports make it appear as though you are travelling through space at hyperspeed on your approach to the gigantic ship that is “much too large to land on any planet.”

Visitors can walk through The Atrium — aka the “heart of the Halcyon” — an area for passengers and crew to congregate.

They can also explore The Bridge and gain insight into the ship’s navigational and defence systems — under crew supervision, of course.

A “spaceport of call” to Black Spire Outpost is also included in the itinerary in which an exclusive passenger transport takes guests to the planet of Batuu — the destination for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

To travel between these two Star Wars destinations, guests will remain fully in-story as they board the transport ships specifically constructed for this new immersive experience.

Guests can also take part in exclusive amenities and activities, including the traditional art of wielding a lightsaber to test their skills and staring out the window of their passenger cabin to take in the views of space and other ships.

They can also sip a drink in the stylish Silver C Lounge, and try their luck at sneaking into a crew-only area to uncover the inner workings of all the ship’s systems.
