A major Canadian cannabis company has just opened a new location at the West Edmonton Mall.

Aurora Cannabis officially opened its new location in the mall on Wednesday morning, making it West Edmonton Mall’s exclusive cannabis retailer.

“West Edmonton Mall prides itself on delivering unique, one-of-a-kind experiences to its 30 million annual visitors. What makes this collaboration particularly special is that our world-class and best-in-class partner, Aurora, is based right here in Edmonton,” said David Ghermezian, CEO of West Edmonton Mall.

The 11,000 sq. ft. store combines retail with experience, with unique products and a calendar full of unique programming and events.

“Aurora is proud to call Edmonton home. It’s here where we established our roots and built our business. There’s no better place for us to open the doors to our flagship store and to welcome consumers from all over the world to join us in celebrating how far the cannabis movement has come and how quickly it continues to grow,” said Terry Booth, CEO of Aurora.

“This space is a reflection of Aurora’s core values, a celebration of our past, and cements our position as an innovative industry leader.”

Aurora is headquartered in Edmonton, and operates in 25 countries across five continents, as one of the world’s largest and leading cannabis companies.

“The Aurora flagship for us is an important milestone in the cannabis industry in Canada,” said Rebecca Farronato, Director of Retail with Aurora in an interview with Daily Hive.

The flagship store will provide visitors access to over 42 different cannabis products from the Aurora family of brands, with knowledgeable staff on hand.

“We have an age gated 18+ safe shopping experience to reduce stigma as the industry evolves,” said Farronato.

“We are hoping to showcase some of our best practices from a retail perspective, and we are committed to quality and excellence in our products. We are committed to education, and we are going to host various educational events in store.”

The “immersive, experiential space” will also have a number of collaboration products and branded accessories.

“Aurora is very proud to call Edmonton home. This is where our story began, and we are so excited today to be welcoming all these consumers with happy faces,” said Farronato.
