A brand-new park is on the way in west Edmonton to explore soon

The City of Edmonton is working on a brand new park in west Edmonton, with the Edgemont neighbourhood set to get a brand-new green space later this year.
The site will eventually be home to a new Edmonton Public Schools kindergarten to Grade 9 school. In preparation, the city is going ahead with base-level park development for public use.
According to the City, park development includes grading, seeding and landscaping, along with adding sports fields, shared-use paths, park furniture and a playground.
Final designs show a ball diamond, a 55-by-36 metre soccer field and a 100-by-64 metre soccer field, as well as a playground, picnic shelter, and pathways connecting the various green spaces.

Construction began last summer and is expected to resume in May. Most of the work from last year has been completed, with park furniture expected to be installed later this year.
Playground equipment is also scheduled to be installed this spring.
The site will remain fenced while park landscaping is established, with Edgemont Community Park expected to be open by the end of 2026.
It’s been a solid year so far for green spaces in Edmonton, with William Hawrelak Park reopening, a new park coming together in southwest Edmonton, and restoration work happening at Jan Reimer Park.
