Edmonton ranks among top cities in the world for Gen Z to move to

Edmonton just landed on the global radar for Gen Z, ranking among the best cities in the world for young people to move to in 2026.
The ranking comes from Remitly, which analyzed 250 cities across the world to “find the cities that genuinely deliver for this generation,” and narrowed it down to a top 50 list.
The cities are scored out of 100 across nine categories, which Remitly says are important for Gen Z movers: rent affordability, youth unemployment rate, safety index, LGBTQ+ equality, broadband speed, affordability of a night out, quality of life index, average monthly net salary, and share of population aged 20 to 29.
Edmonton came in 35th place with a score of 65.02 out of 100. Edmonton was the fifth Canadian city on the list, behind Montreal (65.66), Halifax (65.97) and Calgary (66.18). Ottawa was the highest-scoring Canadian city, coming in eighth place overall with a score of 68.77.
