An exciting new downtown Edmonton park is nearing completion

It’s been years in the making, but Edmonton’s long-anticipated Warehouse Park is still on track to open before the end of this year.
Construction has moved steadily since it began in July 2024. Work on 106th Street is largely complete, and crews are now focusing on landscaping the park, adding trees, shrubs and other greenery as the park takes shape.
The park will cover about 1.81 hectares, or just over two football fields, stretching west of 106th Street and extending beyond 107th Street between Jasper Avenue and 102nd Avenue.

Replacing five surface parking lots in the downtown core, it has been identified by city officials as a major catalyst project that will encourage redevelopment in the surrounding area.
Features will include a playground, outdoor fitness equipment, an off-leash dog area, nearly one kilometre of new pathways and a central pavilion.
A total of 196 trees and 1,620 shrubs are being planted, creating what city planners have described as an “urban oasis.” The park will also provide flexible spaces for community events, informal gatherings and more.

At the centre of the design is a large open lawn shaped like a strawberry, paying tribute to the Anishinaabe word O-day’min, which means strawberries or heart-berries. This is also the name of the ward where the park is located.
Since the project was first announced in 2022, several major developments have been proposed on neighbouring sites, including plans for up to five towers that could add as many as 2,200 residential units.
With landscaping well underway and construction expected to wrap up in the coming months, Warehouse Park remains scheduled to open to the public before the end of 2025.
