It appears that watch parties for the Vegas Golden Knights are a much different experience than they are for the Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers have had some epic watch parties at the Moss Pit outside of Rogers Place as of late, particularly late in last year’s playoff run that saw them advance to the Stanley Cup Final. Even with the Oilers only in the second round at this time, many fans have still been packing into the Moss Pit for what have been some epic celebrations.

The Oilers’ watch parties help serve as a reminder of how much hockey means to those north of the border.

In Las Vegas, however, the vibe for outdoor watch parties seems to be far less intense.
Prior to Game 5 in Edmonton on Monday night, the Golden Knights uploaded a video to social media of their fans gathered outside to watch their team play. Rather than the jam-packed experience Oilers fans are accustomed to, however, this one was significantly more spaced out and way more relaxed.

The watch party, which took place at The America First Centre in Henderson, didn’t seem to have a lot of people in attendance. To no surprise, several Oilers fans chimed in with some rather sarcastic replies.
What time are the fans coming at?

It’s worth mentioning that since entering the NHL in 2017-18, the Golden Knights have had excellent fan support, as they pack the T-Mobile Arena and make it a difficult building for opposing teams to play in. That said, seeing their watch party compared to what the Oilers have is a stark reminder of just how big hockey is in Canada.
