
A new ranking of the Best Global Universities in Canada just came out, and the University of Alberta (U of A) managed to crack the top five. Talk about a flex!
This is the 11th annual U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities ranking, which aims to provide insight into how universities compare globally. This is designed to help evaluate institutions from around the world, particularly as more students choose to enroll in universities outside their home country.
The Global Universities ranking evaluated schools based on their performance on metrics such as research and their ratings by members of the academic community, both within North America and from around the world.
From there, Canadian universities were numerically ranked based on their positions in the overall Best Global Universities rankings.

The U of A tied for 156th place in the global rankings, and received a score of 66.4.
As for which subjects the U of A scored highest in, Agricultural Sciences led the pack at #37, followed by Gastroenterology and Hepatology at #51, andĀ Artificial Sciences at #53.
Our pals down in Calgary also landed on the list, with the University of Calgary coming in eighth place nationally and tied for 204th place in the global rankings with a score of 63.8.
It’s been a banner week for the university, with another global ranking naming it to the top 10 when measuring universities against the United Nationsā Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
