The U of A climbed one spot from last year, when it ranked 119th globally, and remains fifth in Canada, putting it among the country’s top schools.

The University of Alberta wasn’t the only Canadian university to rank highly on the global stage.

The University of Toronto took the top spot in Canada, ranking 22nd in the world.

Other Canadian universities that made the global top 100 include McGill University, which placed 43rd, and the University of British Columbia, which placed 44th.

McMaster University, ranked 116th globally, was the fourth-highest-ranked university in the country.

To the south, the University of Calgary ranked 185th globally, placing it in the top 200, and tied for eighth in Canada with the University of Ottawa.

In total, 34 Canadian universities are featured in the 2027 Canada University Ranking, “showcasing the country’s strength in higher education,” THE said.
