A popular South Edmonton music venue is shutting down at the start of the new year, but if you’re worried about losing yet another live music space, don’t worry, something new (or old, depending on who you ask) is on its way.
After 22 years, Union Hall announced it will be shutting down on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
“Union Hall is closing its doors, not as an ending, but as the beginning of something legendary,” the venue said in a post shared yesterday.
That “something legendary” is Pawn Shop Live, the Whyte Avenue venue that closed a decade ago. The original location at 10551 82nd Ave. closed in 2015, and many of the staff who worked there ended up moving over to Union Hall.

It’s officially coming back, with a new space designed to offer everything from 300-person shows to 1,250-capacity concerts, the announcement says.
“This is for the artists who grind. For the fans who show up early and stay late. For Edmonton’s music community, who deserve a stage that grows with them.”
