Popular Edmonton chef team launch brand-new Italian restaurant

Another kitchen concept is coming into the city, a sister restaurant to some of Edmonton’s Italian favourites.
Chef Daniel Costa is known around the city for his incredible Italian-influenced cuisine. Whether it is the upscale wine-bar Bar Bricco or the casual cafe Va, Costa and his team have developed several unbeatable Italian spots within the city.
The newest from Chef Costa, as well as co-owner and Chef Micah Joffe, comes their latest restaurant venture: Rita Trattoria.

Rita Trattoria is an Italian restaurant, inspired by the classic Italian trattoria, offering a welcoming and comfortable environment. Doors opened on Aug. 7, and the restaurant has been busy ever since.
Taking over what was once the old Uccellino, Rita Trattoria sits on Jasper Avenue, right in the heart of the city. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 5 p.m. to late, this restaurant is focused on “la cena,” dinner in Italian.
The menu is seasonal and simple, mixing old Italian classics with revamps from Chefs Joffe and Costa. For those looking for a true “Rita” experience, the restaurant recommends asking a server for suggestions and sharing a variety of their offered dishes.
One of the dishes featured is the Domenica, including Ziti with Ragu Napoletano, along with salad and a pot of stewed brisket, fennel sausage, ribs, and one big meatball.
It’s Italian, which means we can’t forget about the wine. Inspired by the classic trattoria, Rita serves only Italian wine in various sizes. “Just like in Roma!”
Chef Costa’s concepts have been outstanding in the past, so it’s exciting to see where this venture will lead in the future. If you find yourself on Jasper Avenue looking for a new dining experience, this is one to check out.
