A new park is in the works for a northeast Edmonton neighbourhood

A growing neighbourhood in northeast Edmonton is one step closer to getting a new district park, with the final design now complete for a future space in McConachie.
The City of Edmonton shared the final design for Pilot Sound District Park in a September 2026 update. While there’s no construction timeline just yet, the City says more information will be shared once funding is in place and a schedule has been developed.
For now, plans for the new park include two ball diamonds, four soccer fields for different age groups, and open green spaces.
There is also a future Edmonton Public School junior high on the way for the area, with construction set to begin this fall. Space has also been reserved for a future City recreation centre that would include an Edmonton Public Library branch.

According to the City, the park’s design prioritizes sports fields and amenities that can support programming at the schools, given the expected demand for rec space in the future.

Initial development includes base-level amenities, such as sports fields, seating, pathways, and landscaping. The City will also grade and plant grass or sod in the areas where the future recreation facility will be built.
