Beloved Vietnamese restaurant in Edmonton closes its doors after 21 years

After 21 years of business, Pho Song Huong, a popular family-run Vietnamese restaurant in Edmonton, closed its doors this month, marking the end of an era.
Pho Song Huong came to north side Edmonton in 2005 and has since grown into a reliable spot for great Vietnamese food and authentic dishes. In late 2025, the business announced it’d be closing, but was able to stick around until September 2026.
At the end of this past September, the family made an announcement regarding the sudden closure of the restaurant.

“In case you haven’t been in over the last two weeks… it’s official: we are closed, and my mom (the owner) is retiring,” reads the Instagram post from the business.
Due to no success selling the recipes or the name, as well as a “tough return” since reopening in March, the family decided they were going to leave the business.
As of Sept. 26, 2026, Pho Song is officially closed.
In Pho Song’s stead, Pho Queen Royal, a new Vietnamese restaurant, opened on Oct. 1.
However, for those who are still craving the flavours of the original Vietnamese spot, you might be in luck.
The family of the original business run the South Edmonton restaurant Pho Thanh. According to the Instagram post, the closest thing to dishes on Pho Song’s menu will be found here.
We’re definitely going to miss this neighbourhood spot, and hopefully, Pho Queen Royal will become the north side’s new go-to spot.
