The Edmonton Oilers could have a major injury on their hands.

With Connor Brown already out of the lineup after taking a high hit in Game 3, Zach Hyman left Tuesday’s game in the first period with an apparent injury. It was an awkward play that happened in the neutral zone as Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment collided with the Oilers forward.

Hyman immediately dropped his stick and headed down the tunnel to the Edmonton dressing room. He looked to be favouring his right arm or hand/wrist.

The Oilers later announced that Hyman would not return for the rest of the game.

Losing Brown was a big hit to the depth scoring on this Oilers squad, but a potential Hyman injury will hurt the top of the lineup. The 32-year-old has spent the playoffs playing on Edmonton’s first or second line and is fifth on the team in playoff scoring with five goals and 11 points.

Notably, he was well on the way to setting the NHL record for hits in a single postseason, having recorded 111 up until the point that he was injured.
