The Edmonton Oilers celebrated a Game 1 Stanley Cup Final victory, but a handful of the players’ wives and girlfriends weren’t in the arena to see it.
Leon Draisaitl, who scored the OT winner in Game 1, is set to get married to longtime girlfriend Celeste Desjardins this summer. To help celebrate the future Mrs. Draisaitl, Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle McDavid, and Darnell Nurse’s wife, Mikayla Nurse, were on a plane to Celeste’s bachelorette.
The bridal party was headed to Greece to celebrate, and it just happened to be during Game 1.
“When the bachelorette falls on less than ideal timing,” Lauren posted on her Instagram story. “We will be back for the good stuff! Go Oilers!”

By “good stuff,” we can only assume that means that they will be back in time for a potential Oilers Stanley Cup victory.
Though they were in the air while the Oilers opened up their Stanley Cup Final series against the Florida Panthers, that doesn’t mean they weren’t paying attention. They managed to stream the game on a laptop on the plane.
Celeste got a chance to see her future husband score the biggest goal of his career, and the post-game interview.

The Draisaitls will tie the knot after the playoffs come to an end, with a wedding celebration set for this summer. No specific date has been publicly announced, but it will probably land about a year after McDavid and Lauren got married last summer.
The two are reportedly planning to share their vows during a ceremony in France.
Lauren will serve as Celeste’s maid of honour at the wedding, and we are still waiting to see who will be in Draisaitl’s wedding party. It’s safe to say Oilers teammate Connor McDavid has a good shot at being involved, as does former teammate Cody Ceci.
All of the focus will be on the Oilers’ Stanley Cup run right now, but as soon as this run ends, Draisaitl will have to shift focus to his future wife.
