A new Edmonton Oilers playoff song has dropped, and it’s far different from the opera hype track released by Robert Clark and Helen Hassinger in late April.
Cadence Weapon, a Canadian rapper born and raised in Edmonton, released a song five days ago titled “Connor McDavid.”

This song was actually written and released by Weapon early in McDavid’s career, though he changed up the beat this time around in what he is deeming as the “2024 Stanley Cup Version.”
Perhaps now that this song is starting to pick up steam, it can provide the Oilers with some good luck moving forward. They could certainly use it, as they are currently down 2-0 to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. Through those two games, they’ve found the back of the net just one time.
Following Game 2 on Monday night, the two sides are in the midst of a two-day break before getting back into action tomorrow. While things appear bleak for the Oilers right now, they should get a huge boost playing in front of what will be an electric crowd at Rogers Place. Tomorrow’s game will mark the first time a Stanley Cup Final has been played in Edmonton since 2006.
Puck drop for Game 3 is set for 6 pm MT.
