The wait is finally over.
After months of speculation and several potential leaks, the Edmonton Oilers have finally revealed their new Hometown Remix jersey. Reports have been circulating for a while that the Oilers would go in the direction of an all-black jersey with grey and orange highlights, and that wound up being true.
The new Edmonton uniform will be the first black jersey in franchise history and includes a recoloured version of the classic logo that removes blue in favour of orange and grey. The striping pattern differs from their classic format, but follows the colour scheme of the rest of the uniform with two bright orange stripes across the arms and waist that are accented by a subtle grey.
It’s truly a unique look for the Oilers, and one that is sure to ruffle some feathers among the fanbase.
“Orange and storm grey set off the black jersey, with the return of the oil rig worker. This is Oil Country,” the Oilers X account wrote as they revealed the jersey.

Apart from a recoloured main crest, there will also be two different shoulder patch logos featured on the uniform. One shoulder will have the new “Oil Country” badge that was revealed on the team’s other alternate jersey last year, while the other will bring back the classic “oil rig worker” logo that was popular during the team’s run from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s.
The reintroduction of that old logo is sure to excite some fans.
“The Oilers Hometown Remix jersey introduces a slick, black, oil aesthetic,” a description on the Ice District Authentics website read. “It’s more than a design; it’s a representation of the grit and determination Edmonton is built on, even today. This is a city that’s never been afraid to get its hands dirtyâand still come out shining.
“The sleek, tonal crest paired with traditional striping allows the warning orange to take centre stage.”

The numbers look similar to the Oilers’ current alternate jersey, but the jagged edges do appear to be a different font. Those numbers will blend in with a base colour of black that is outlined by the orange and grey, which could cause some problems for play-by-play commentators across the NHL.
The colour scheme, however, has a chance to look striking on the ice.

As for the rest of the uniform, a video shared by the Oilers showed Connor McDavid in the full setup. It appears that Edmonton will make its first foray into using matte black helmets, a trend that other teams around the league have introduced in recent years.
Players will also wear black pants that feature the recoloured main crest, as well as socks that match the striping pattern of the jersey.
The fabric of Edmonton.
You love your home. Now youâve got a new way to show it.

The Oilers have yet to release an official schedule for when the new jersey will be worn this season. Other teams are set to debut their new jerseys as soon as Monday night, but that may not be the case for Edmonton.
Considering the dark colour of the jersey, it will likely be reserved for home games at Rogers Place. The next Oilers home game is set for this Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks.
