Edmonton Oilers get good-news injury update on Jack Roslovic

The Edmonton Oilers are getting an early Christmas present for their last two games before the holiday break.

After missing the last 11 games with an undisclosed injury, the Oilers announced that Jack Roslovic has been activated off LTIR and will return to the lineup on Sunday night against the Vegas Golden Knights.

This is sooner than expected, as previous reports indicated that he could have been out until after Christmas.

Additionally, the club announced that Connor Clattenburg has been placed on LTIR and prospect Quinn Hutson has been loaned back to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors.

Getting Roslovic back will be a significant boost for the Oilers’ forward group. Before the injury, the 28-year-old American was among the team’s most consistent scorers. He remains third on the Oilers with 10 goals this season and is fifth with 18 points through 23 games, despite the missed time.

This will result in some line shuffling for the Oilers ahead of Sunday’s matchup. Edmonton did not have a full team skate this morning, meaning the lines won’t be revealed in full until warmups.

You have to imagine that head coach Kris Knoblauch won’t want to touch the red-hot top line of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins-Connor McDavid-Zach Hyman. If that is the case, Roslovic is likely to slot in next to Leon Draisaitl and Vasily Podkolzin on the second line, replacing rookie Matt Savoie, who could be pushed down into the bottom six.

The Oilers are currently two points behind the Golden Knights for second in the Pacific Division. A win tonight would tie the two teams, though Vegas does have three games in hand.

On top of Roslovic returning to the lineup, Connor Ingram is expected to make his Oilers debut between the pipes. Ingram has a lifetime record of 1-1-1 in three games against the Golden Knights.

Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. MST.
