Edmonton Oilers goalie Andersen had an epic day with Stanley Cup
Frederik Andersen is having himself a summer to remember.
In the span of the last two months, the Edmonton Oilers goaltender has won the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes and got married to his long-term girlfriend. This week in particular must have been a whirlwind for Andersen, whose wedding was last Saturday and who just recently got his day with the Stanley Cup on Wednesday.
Getting a day with the Stanley Cup has become an annual tradition for players on a winning team, and it brings a lot of pressure on how they will spend those 24 hours. Some like to bring it to their hometowns to share with family and friends, while others like to do something a bit more unique.
So, how did Andersen spend his day with hockey’s holy grail? He brought it to the birthplace of one of the most iconic products of his homeland: LegoLand in Billund, Denmark.

Andersen has long been a big fan of Lego, having featured the brand’s iconic minifigure on his masks throughout his NHL tenure. Being from Denmark, it’d be hard to escape the iconic building block during his childhood.
The 36-year-old goaltender made sure to lift the Stanley Cup in front of one of the giant minifigures on site at LegoLand.

This wasn’t a solo trip for the Danish goaltender. He brought out a collection of family and friends to the iconic theme park as well. It seemed like the perfect blend to celebrate such a momentous accomplishment for Andersen.
Certainly a unique way to spend a day with the Stanley Cup.

With the Stanley Cup championship now behind Andersen, the focus will shift to “building” another memorable playoff run with the Oilers next season.
