This Japanese restaurant in Edmonton is reopening with a completely new concept

Nom, formerly known as Nomiya, is opening soon in Edmonton to introduce its new restaurant concept.
Nomiya opened in Edmonton around 16 years ago, coming into the city as a locally-owned ramen and udon shop serving an abundance of dishes. This year, Nomiya is reinventing itself, taking on the name Nom and taking a new, elevated approach to Japanese dining in Edmonton.
“A grown-up version of what we’ve always been,” the business says on Instagram. “The same people, but a new experience.”

The menu hasn’t been released or even teased online yet, and that’s for a reason. Owner Wing explains on Instagram that dishes and menu items are still being finalized in this soft opening phase, and would simply label the cuisine “really good food” with Japanese ingredients.
The restaurant is currently taking reservations for dinner, open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on almost all weekdays, extending to 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. According to its Instagram, they are hoping to start lunch soon as well.
If you’re looking for a fresh new Japanese restaurant from some faces Edmonton knows and loves, Nom is just waiting for you. Let’s hope official opening dates and more information will be released soon.
