A massive new aquatics centre is moving ahead for a community northeast of Edmonton, promising to bring a whole host of new recreational options to the region.
The planned 52,500-square-foot facility in Fort Saskatchewan will be connected to the Dow Centennial Centre and will replace the city’s aging Harbour Pool, which has been in use since 1982. Unlike the older pool’s smaller layout, the new centre would support multiple activities at the same time.
Amenities proposed for the facility include a 10-lane lap pool with diving boards, a leisure pool, and a separate, warmer tot pool.
Preliminary concept renderings were developed as part of the project’s validation phase, with final designs and construction costs set to be presented to council for approval in the next stage.

Other planned features include a hot pool, sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool, lazy river, water slides, a drop slide, climbing wall, obstacle course, multipurpose rooms, and barrier-free change rooms. Spectator and parent viewing areas, along with space for water therapy and rehabilitation, are also part of the design.

On July 8, 2025, Fort Saskatchewan City Council approved the $66.6-million project, with funding to come through debenture borrowing and support from Dow Chemical, which has committed US$4.1 million toward design and construction.
Construction could start as early as Spring 2026, with Harbour Pool to remain operational until the new facility opens.
