McDavid has hilarious exchange with Edmonton Oilers trainer over wet gloves

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid is mighty particular when it comes to the feel of his equipment.

McDavid is well-known for his superstitious behaviour. Whether it’s wearing a lucky suitĀ or rocking the same pair of socks from his youth hockey days, Oilers fans are well aware of the 28-year-old’s hilarious antics and the measures he will go to give his team what he feels is good luck.

As it turns out, the Oilers captain is also very particular when it comes to the condition of his gloves.

McDavid, like many hockey players, doesn’t seem to like his gloves being wet. This is quite common, though the way he went about it in a recent video has Oilers fans chuckling.

Prior to the third period in a recent road game versus the Vegas Golden Knights, McDavid can be heard commenting on his gloves being “soaked.” Equipment manager Brad Harrison seemed quite amused by the entire situation, all of which was captured and uploaded by the Oilers.

“He didn’t give them to me. Why’s he mad at me? He didn’t give them to me,” said a grinning Harrison.

McDavid wound up hitting the ice with the same pair of gloves, but clearly still seemed discontent with how wet they were.

“Give them to me, I’ll dry them. Throw them right here. Just give them to me, watch,” Harrison said to McDavid just seconds before the third period got underway.

Harrison was able to take the gloves down the tunnel and dry them out before the puck dropped to kick off the third period. McDavid, clearly appreciating the effort, was spotted grinning ear to ear as he took his gloves back from Harrison in what was a very entertaining exchange.

Harrison has served as a member of the Oilers’ equipment staff since the 2013-14 season and seems to be absolutely beloved in the dressing room. Shortly after this clip was uploaded, Leon Draisaitl showed his appreciation for Harrison on Instagram.

The entire nine-minute video uploaded by the Oilers, which can be viewed here, shows just how important equipment staff are and why they are generally such popular members of NHL locker rooms.
