You can dine and sleep at this 111-year-old saloon with real bullet holes in Alberta
If you’re looking for an authentic Western experience outside of Stampede in Alberta this year, you might want to head down to the Last Chance Saloon for a bite to eat!
The Rosedeer Hotel in Wayne, Alberta, dates back to 1913 and has definitely seen its fair share of history (and maybe cowboy shotgun duels?).
A review on its website says, “Itās like visiting a small museum and a restaurant all at once!”
The hotel was built by the Rosedeer Coal Mining Company during the coal mining era and still offers affordable accommodation for curious travellers.

The community of Wayne is nestled next to Drumheller and used to be home to almost 2,500 people in its heyday, but it is now a town of only 28.
If you love a good ghost story, there are plenty of them here! Locals used to refer to the area as the “Bucket of Blood” because of all the fights the miners used to get into. There are even real bullet holes in the walls!
