Kenney saw largest drop in approval rating of all Canada’s premiers: poll

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney saw the most drastic drop in approval of all Canada’s premiers, according to a recent poll.

The poll by DART C-Suite shows that Kenney dropped down to third-to-last out of the country’s 10 provincial leaders, coming in ahead of only Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil and Ontario’s Doug Ford.

The poll was conducted online between November 27 and December 3, 2019, with a total of 5,035 Canadians participating.

Coming up on top with a 60% approval rating is Quebec Premier François Legault, followed by Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe in second at 56%.

British Columbia Premier John Horgan is fourth on the list, with a 47% approval rating that hasn’t changed since last quarter.

Kenney dropped 15 points from 55% of respondents approving of the premier down to just 40%, according to the survey results, which was provided by DART & Maru/Blue Voice Canada Poll.

On the other side of Canada, Nova Scotia’s McNeil sits at 36% approval, ahead of Ford’s 28%, thanks to a 17% jump in ratings since September.

As per the new poll, the approval ratings and rankings of the premiers measured for the fourth quarter of 2019 are as follows:

• Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe (56% -2)
• British Columbia Premier John Horgan (47% N/C)
• Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister (44% +4)
• Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball (43% +3)
• New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs (42% -1)
• Alberta Premier Jason Kenney (40% -15)
• Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil (36% +17)
• Ontario Premier Doug Ford (28% +2)
