We finally visited the Edmonton sandwich shop everyone’s talking about — here's how it went

This local sandwich spot caught our eye, and for good reason.
Sandwiches are a culinary staple for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s the easiest meal to enjoy on the go or while sitting down with friends.
Farrow Sandwiches is deemed one of the best sandwich joints in the city by many Edmontonians. From the almost 5-star Google rating among all locations in the city to the amassed follower count of over 30,000 on their Instagram, this fact is no secret. If you talk to any local, you can always find yourself directed back toward Farrow Sandwiches.
With a sparkling reputation and an Instagram account featuring photos that make mouths water, we set ourselves on a mission to discover what makes it so magical.
Tucked away on 124 Street

Farrow was established in 2014 and has been dedicated to bringing the finest sandwiches, coffee, baked goods, and catering since day one.
There are several locations for Farrow Sandwiches within Edmonton. Whether it’s in the neighbourhoods of Garneau, Ritchie, on Jasper Avenue or off 124th Street, every single location has the same amount of care and love put into it.
Each location is open daily, although with differing hours, allowing Edmontonians to grab a bite whenever they please.
We decided to visit their location on 124th Street, tucked away on the right side of the road. It’s easy to miss, but perfectly cozy with beautiful trees just outside its doorstep.
Inside the restaurant

Once you take a step inside, you’re greeted with a comfortable atmosphere. Though it is casual, the ceiling dazzles customers with various logos and designs featuring Farrow, and the floor features similar fun designs.
Just ahead of the door sits the menu, register, and a friendly employee who is ready to take your order whenever you are.

The menu rotates occasionally, with fan favourites usually taking a spot in their rotation.
Currently, the sandwich menu offers their eggy breakfast sandwich, Grick Middle, the delicious Porchetta ‘Bout It, their classic Chef Beef, and their vegan sandwich, Zucchini Kill.
We opted for the Chef Beef for $12, with extra roast beef, horseradish aioli, pickled red onions, Rip-L chips, and arugula.
For those who aren’t horseradish fans, Farrow allows the horseradish aioli to be substituted with their rosemary aioli, featured on the Grick Middle.
This delicacy has an excellent amalgamation of textures. The crunchy chips and bread pair perfectly with the delicate roast beef and punchy pickled onions, allowing all flavour profiles to shine.
The highlight of this sandwich isn’t just one ingredient, but it’s the combination of every ingredient, which truly makes this a stand-out sandwich. It’s crunchy, it’s juicy, it’s soft, it’s everything you need and more.
In addition to their sandwiches, Farrow serves fresh baked goods baked by their in-house pastry team. Each month, they offer an array of donuts, cronuts, brownies, cookies, and more.
This month’s line-up starts at $3 with Orange Creamsicle Cookies, their Vanilla Sprinkle Donuts, Raspberry Lemon Cake Donuts, and their OG Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Cronut.
And, what pairs more perfectly with pastries than coffee?
Farrow works directly with some of the finest third-wave roasters in the world. To ensure freshness, their supply is roasted and shipped each week, constantly changing as the roasters they work with source seasonally.
Some of the notable names from roasters they love to work with are Roasti, Timbertrain, Middlestate, and Phil and Sebastian.
Not all simple sandwich shops offer as many options for treats and beverages, but Farrow does and serves them with ease. Whether you come in for just a sandwich or a coffee, you can end up walking out with a full meal for both you and a friend, given the variety of options available.
With the 124th Street location open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., there is no question why you shouldn’t stop by for a treat. Don’t miss out, get a bite at Farrow.
