Fare changes are coming into effect for ETS passes starting next month, with seniors expected to be hit the hardest by increases.

ETS has announced fare changes for fare booklets, with passes for seniors expected to increase by nearly double starting in February.

While a book of 10 tickets is expected to drop from $23 to $19 for both youth and seniors, a seniors monthly pass is increasing from $15.50 to $34 in February.

In addition, an annual seniors pass is going up from $136.50 to $374 effective February 1, 2020.

ETS addressed the fare changes on Twitter.

“Starting February 1, ETS fares will be adjusted based on the new Fare Policy approved by Council. This policy focuses on affordability and provides income-based discounts and simplified fare categories,” said ETS.
