Edmonton Police investigating two shootings that took place Monday

Edmonton Police are investigating two unrelated shootings that took place on Monday.

According to police, one of the shootings occurred at 128 Avenue and 88 Street at approximately 2:40 pm on Monday.

In this incident, a male victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound and is in stable condition.

The other incident took place Monday evening just after 5 pm. Police responded to a report of an assault of a male at 149 Ave and 72 St.

“Following initial investigations, police learned that three people, one of whom was known to the male complainant, assaulted him in a suite,” said Edmonton Police Communications Advisor Cheryl Voordenhout in an email.

According to Voordenhout, a firearm was allegedly discharged, but no one was struck.

“The complainant was allegedly bluntly struck with a machete and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One 26-year-old female was arrested and charges are pending,”

According to police, the investigation continues in relation to the other suspects in this incident.

Investigations in both cases are ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
